Selecting and Sustaining Ongoing Service

by Chris Szulwach on May 17, 2009

This week’s topic here on YMB is all about service, social action, and justice.  In this case though we are going to be discussing how we can go about selecting and sustaining ongoing service opportunities for our ministries.  You may have read or at least heard about the Deep Justice in a Broken World by Chap Clark & Kara Powell.  The idea here is that we need to be leading our students in actually making a difference in our world and teaching them how they can be part of building the kingdom of God when they leave the youth ministry too.  This is not about droping in somewhere to a help a little and then go home, instead it is about being deeply involved in the joining in to the work that God is doing around your community and creating space for it to work within your teenagers hearts.

That’s the topic for the week so get your thinking caps on!  We are really going to need each other’s help on such an important topic!
